Acme Bar & Coffee

OMG!!! I have not been writing blog for like almost six months already. I just noticed that. Time really flies. What I have been doing in these six months time man?? Well, actually I have been busy working  part time for my last 3 months summer holiday. When I started back my new semester in the middle of September last year, I have been busy attending classes and hanging out with my bunch of friends. Really don't have the time to do my personal thing and blogging and the time just passed so fast that I even completed another semester now. Yes, you are right!! I just finished my exam and I just started my two weeks sem break. Finally, I have the time to sit down and blog. Yeah, I am back!!

I visited quite a number of cafes and restaurants in these six months time which I wanted to share with you guys but I really do not have the time to do so. I am so sorry about that! So, I am going to update back my blog with those places that I have been visited in these half year time. So stay tune ya. Since I have so many restaurants and cafes to blog about, so I am going for a quick and short one too. Here you go for a blog on Acme Bar & Coffee which I have visited on last Deepavali with my friends. We actually wanted to visit this cafe long long time ago when it first started hit the town that time with its famous sizzling brownie. But we ended dragging it until now.

Okay, this is how it look like from the exterior.

So, some of these are the interior photos.

That Moment!

Sizzling Brownie and Oreo Ice Cream (RM19.00)
Rating: 4/5

Personally, I think that this sizzling brownie and oreo ice cream taste really good. Imagine how the hot chocolate sauce and brownie combine with the cold ice cream. This hot and cold combination is just way to perfect for me.

Cappuccino (RM15.00)
Rating: 3/5

Latte (RM15.00)
Rating: 3/5

For drink wise, I don't have much comment. Non other than the iced chocolate which I think it doesn't taste good, the rest of the drinks are just normal. In other word to say, nothing special.

TGI Fridays @ Paradigm Mall

TGI Fridays!!! In here, it's always Friday. I think this is most people wish as well huh! Anyway, I went here for dinner last Wednesday after buying some books in Popular Bookstore using my BRIM voucher which is going to expire at the end of this month. Was deciding to eat this or Sakae Sushi. Since my bro-in-law has this Pinch of Salt card which entitled him to a RM30 birthday voucher, we decided to eat this instead. For your information, this is my first time eating TGI Fridays. I know this is so outdated right. Lol. There were a few restaurants which I think that most people have tried before which I never try before. One is TGI Fridays and the other two are Plan B and Chili's.

So, this is the interior of TGI Fridays in Paradigm Mall.

Tadaa...their menu!! (*Obviously...Haha)

Cajun Shrimp & Chicken Pasta (RM32.90)
Rating: 3.5/5
Cajun Shrimp & Chicken Pasta are seasoned and sauteed with green and red bell peppers, then tossed with fettuccine and creamy Cajun Alfredo sauce and finally topped with freshly shaved Parmesan Cheese and green onions. I think this combination was perfect. Usually, I do not really like to eat too creamy or too cheesy food but I am okay with this. In other word to say, yes, it is quite nice lah!!

Here you go, another closer look of it.

Chicken Fingers (RM25.90)
Rating: 3.5/5
Chicken Fingers is actually a golden fried hand-battered chicken tenders. It is served with crispy fries and honey mustard dressing for dipping. The chicken itself is not very tasty but when you dip it in the honey mustard dressing then the taste is okay. This sweet and sour sauce is quite appetizing as well.

Tennessee Burger (RM29.90)
Rating 3.5/5
Their Tennesse Burger on the other hand is glazed with Tennessee sauce and stacked with two strips of crispy beef bacon and Monterey Jack cheese on a toasted bun accompanied with shredded lettuce, tomato, pickle slices, onion and served with crispy fries and a side of Tennesse sauce. I pretty like their Tennesse sauce. In fact, we requested for another plate of this sauce. I ate my Chicken Fingers with this sauce as well and my sister actually mixed her pasta with this sauce as well. Lol. Btw, I cannot really give a very high rating for this dish. This is because I didn't try their burger as I cannot eat beef. But, if only the sauce itself then I can maybe give a higher rating.

Just another close up shot of the Tennesse Burger.

BCL Malaysia

I usually blogged on food and this will be my very first blog on makeup. Last Sunday, I actually went to this BCL Malaysia makeup workshop at Uptown with my sister. It started around 10.45am and ended at 12.30pm. Thanks to BCL Malaysia for inviting my sister to their workshop and thanks to my sister for bringing me as well. Is a great experience though. Their makeup master came all the way from Japan to teach us. Special thanks to Mr. Takara Hiroki.

Let me introduce you to BCL first. BCL actually stand for Beauty Creative Lab. Is actually a Japanese company. They offered a wide range of products from foundation to eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, cleanser and many more!

Actually I am suck in makeup and I don't really makeup. In fact, knowing how to makeup is really important especially when you need to attend event that time. This is really undeniable and I really think that we must at least know some basic makeup. Just that I am a little too lazy to learn about it. So, last Sunday was actually a great opportunity for me.

So, I am going to share with you what I have learned so far. Is going to be a six steps process.

Step 1: Makeup Base.

-Of course, the very first thing you need to do is put up your makeup base or foundation. The key here is not to put too much makeup base/foundation at the edge of your face so that you wouldn't look so unnatural.

Clearlast Natural Cover Pact (New)
01 Natural Ocher (Left) / 02 Light Ocher (Right)
So, this was the one we used that day. This one is actually a new product and it comes with 2 different colours.

And this is how it looks like when it is opened up.

Clearlast Face Powder High Cover
Mat Ocher / Shiro Hada (White and Glowy) Ocher
And these two are the existing products. It can be used after makeup base/foundation or directly used as foundation. It contains seven different types of micro powders to cover up pores and dullness. It also provide UV protection up to SPF 23 besides resist to sweat and sebum. On top of that, they also provide moisture to your skin and maximize the absorption of makeup leading to a smoother and shinier skin.

Step 2: Eyebrow

-The next thing you need to do is draw your eyebrow. First, draw your whole eyebrow with the pencil and then draw the end part with the liquid type.

Browlash EX W Eyebrow Pencil and Liquid
(Grayish Brown - Left / Natural Brown - Right)
So this is actually a double headed eyebrow product. It resists water, sebum and perspiration for 24 hours. One side is pencil and the other side is liquid. The pencil part is flexible enough to allow you to draw either thin or thick line and thus it is suitable to draw the whole eyebrow. The liquid part on the other hand help to draw accurate lines with its fine brush and hence it is more suitable to draw the end part of your eyebrows.

For your information, they are going introduce a new item called Browlash EX W Eyebrow Gel Pencil & Powder which is going to be available in two colours namely natural brown and light brown.

Step 3: Eye Shadow

-Next you need to apply your eye shadow. First of all, draw a line on the upper lash line and then gently smudge it to create soft smokey eye. You can also draw a line on the lower lash line for cute drooping eyes.

Makemania Data Gradation Shadow Liner
(Bronze Brown - Left / Light Brown - Right)
RM49.90 each
So, you can actually use this, the Gradation Shadow Liner to apply your eye shadow. The good thing here is this Gradation Shadow Liner can act as both eye shadow and eyeliner. So good huh?? Got multifunction somemore! You know right Asian's eyes are usually quite small like my eyes as well. No offence. So their soft and flexible tip can actually help to make your eyes look bigger. Another good thing is they are waterproof!

Step 4: Eyeliner

-Next is eyeliner. Eyeliner will definitely make your eyes look bigger.

Browlash EX Water Strong Liner (Deep Black) - Left
Browlash EX Slim Gel Pencil - (Deep Black/Deep Brown) - Right
(New Release)
The one on the left which is Browlash EX Water Strong Liner is actually an existing product and is available in deep black colour only. While the one on the right is actually a new product called Browlash EX Slim Gel Pencil which is available in two colours namely deep black and deep brown. As what I know, deep black can actually make your eyes look bigger. But, somehow I think that the deep brown eyeliner look more suitable and natural for me.

Browlash EX Slim Gel Pencil (Deep Brown) - Left
Browlash EX Water Strong Liner (Deep Black) - Right
So, here you can have a clearer picture on the differences between that two in terms of their tip and colour. The Water Strong Liner allows drawing of both fine and thick lines with ease of control making it easier to draw especially for the beginner like me. While the Slim Gel Pencil with their ultra-fine 2mm core make it easier to draw the eyeliner firmly right to the edge of the eyes and the colour can goes on beautifully even between the lashes as well as the corner of the eyes.

Step 5: Mascara

-The next thing is apply mascara. In fact, I think mascara is very important. I know most of the girls, they actually put mascara even they don't makeup. This is because mascara really help in making your lashes look more longer, thicker and more curl as well which is prettier lah in short. Lol. So how to apply?? First of all, put the brush on top of your upper lashes and then put the brush on the base of your lashes and apply the mascara by raising the lashes. Put additional coats to make them look denser.

Perfect Mascara & Eyeliner - New Release (RM69.90)
Again, this have multifunction where it can act as both mascara and eyeliner. The good thing is this is waterproof and their super fine brush actually help to separate and apply mascara to each strand of lashes evenly!

Volume Lash Fiber Mascara
So, how about this?? What is their benefit?? The best part of this Volume Lash Fiber Mascara is that it help to increase the volume with just a single application.

Washable WP Mascara - Middle (Coming Soon)
Finally, the Washable WP Mascara is waterproof but they are washable with warm water. Be patient!! This is coming soon.

Step 6: Lip & Cheek

Last but not least, your lips and cheek!! So, BCL do offer Makemania Data Essence Rouge Gloss, Makemania Curvy Lip Silicone and Puregram 4 Colors Brush Cheek but the bad thing is they are not available in Malaysia. Maybe you need to go Japan to buy it. Haha.

Baby Smooth Skin Clear Peeling Gel
Oh ya, this is the Baby Smooth Skin Clear Peeling Gel, Face Wash and Cleasing oil. All these are coming soon. They are releasing very soon. So, be patient!! Thanks to BCL Malaysia for giving all of us one bottle of this Baby Smooth Skin Clear Peeling Gel.

So, this is Mr. Takara Hiroki who actually came all the way from Japan to teach us makeup.

And this is Mr. Takara Hiroki and his model of the day Miss Jen.

This is Jen before makeup. Starting very soon!!

Before this, let me show you some tester first.

So, here you go another close up shot of some of the tester.

So, this is Jen showing us her eye makeup. She is so nice, friendly and pretty. She is very cooperative as well. She actually walked around for us to take picture so that we can blogged about it. Thanks Jen!

Finally, let me tell you something. You know what is the current trend in Japan?? Guess what!! Is eye bags!! Yes, you are right!! You never see wrongly nor I taip wrongly. This is according to Mr. Takara Hiroki. Last time what people always do is use makeup to cover up their flaws like eye bags but right now what people do is makeup to make them have eye bags. I know this is funny. The reason why they do so is because with eye bags, they actually look more innocent which guys will like it so much lah. So, the good thing is no not need to hide your eye bags anymore. Is a trend man!! Take it as your advantage.

Can you see what he is doing?? He is actually adding the eye bags on Jen.

So, this is the final photo of Jen. Mr. Hiroki actually demonstrated two different types of makeup styles on Jen's face. One is Cool Beauty which is more to a defined and mature look and the other one is Japanese Idol which more to supernatural look. Can you see the difference between Jen's right and left face?? Pretty right??

Finally, this is me!! My first attempt with the help of my sister and Mr. Hiroki. Anyway, is a very light makeup only.

Hope you guys enjoy my very first blog on makeup and correct me if there is anything wrong. Lastly, thumbs up to the team. They did a very good job!

Molten Lava Cafe @ One Utama

Molten Lava Cafe is located at the lower ground floor of new wing of One Utama Shopping Centre right opposite Cold Storage. Why would I introduce you to this cafe?? Is not because of their coffee nor chocolate. Is definitely because of their churros. Some people might ask what is churros then?? Churro is actually a fried-dough pastry which is sometime referred as a Spanish doughnut. This is the place where I had my first churros. I have never try any other churros before so I cannot really compare. Beside that, I also don't know where I can get churros except this place. So, whenever I come to this cafe, I'll eat their churros.

Churros with Icing (RM4.80)
Rating:4/5
The churros here were made upon order. With this, you can always enjoy your hot and crispy churros. Imagine the churros are hot and crispy outside and soft inside. Wah, is so awesome!! Can you imagine what I am saying?? In fact, the taste is so perfect with the icing sugar. I always ordered churros with icing because I think that with icing, you can always taste the original taste of the dough unlike chocolate which will covered up the entire taste of the dough. This is something like when you eat roti canai, if you eat it with dhal, you will never get to try the original taste of the roti canai dough. But when you eat it with sugar, you can actually taste the original roti canai dough taste. I actually like roti canai with sugar as well.

Btw, don't get me wrong! Molten Lava Cafe also served other food as well like funnel cake, macaroons, noodles, rice, coffee, chocolate, tea and etc. Indeed, I only get to know that they are selling noodles and rice through the internet. Lol. For your information, you will hardly see customer in their shop. But their churros are really nice lah. So I don't know why. Maybe their other food are average only. Perhaps! This is what I guess only lah.

Texas Chicken @ Empire Damansara

This place is called Empire Damansara. You can see there are lots of umbrellas here. I actually came here for dinner and to take some photos as well. Since I never try Texas Chicken before so I decided to eat that as my dinner. In fact, before this I heard there were quite a number of good reviews about Texas Chicken.

One Whole Set (RM11.80)
Rating: 3.5/5
So, here you go my set of Texas Chicken. This set is actually made up of 2 pieces of chicken, 1 honey-butter biscuit, 1 mashed potatoes, 1 coleslaw and free flow of drinks. I know you sure wondering '"where got coleslaw, is french fries what" right?? And now you noticed that you just look back at my picture. Lol. Anyway, what I did was I requested them to change the coleslaw into french fries for me. This is simply because I don't eat coleslaw and at the same time I love fries so much.

Btw, I think this is comparable to KFC. I pretty like it lah. First of all, it is not so oily. I mean the chicken. You wouldn't see any oil dripping like how KFC's chicken do nowadays. On top of that, their chickens are more soft and tender. Even their chicken breasts are soft and tender as well. You can imagine I am person that do not eat chicken breast and I would say that their chicken breasts are soft and acceptable. In term of taste, I cannot really compare. This is because each of them has their own unique taste. So, this is definitely not comparable.

Next, I would like to talk about their honey-butter biscuit. Their honey and butter combination is just perfect. But, please don't expect a crispy biscuit texture. I guess their biscuit texture is more to like a scone texture. On top of that, I also love their mashed potatoes and fries as well especially when it is hot and crispy. Their fries and mashed potatoes taste are completely different from KFC. Is a different taste. So, again it is not comparable. Each has their own uniqueness. Last but not least, their drinks is free flow!!! The good thing is you can refill yourself. They have quite a number of flavors of drinks like iced lemon tea, sprite, coke and etc. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with it and I'll definitely go for second time and maybe I'll try their dessert in my next visit.

Paddington House of Pancakes @ The Curve

My sister and I tried to be a vegetarian on last Tuesday. So, we went here and there hunting for food without meat. At first, we went to A Pie Thing located at uptown to eat pie as our brunch. Unfortunately, it was not opened until 4pm. Since my sister wanted to buy cupboard in IKEA, so we decided to go over there for food instead. Then we wanted to try dip n dip in The Curve but again it not was opened. Very unlucky huh?? At the end, we decided to eat pancake at Paddington House of Pancakes instead. They do served a variety of food like American pancakes, European pancakes, burgers, nachos, soups, steak, fish, seafood, pasta, smoothies, milkshakes, coolers, beers, and many more! When we opened up their menu, we felt like ordering this and that as in everything lah. All look so interesting but we know that we couldn't finish it if we order two sets. So, eventually we decided to order only one set instead. It was so freaking difficult for us to make a choice. So, guess what we do?? Lol. I suggested that we list down 5 food that we wanted to try individually and then compare and choose the one where both of us had listed it. What a coincidence! Both of us had actually listed 3 similar food that we wanted to try (codes of the food we wanted to try were 2006, 3003, and 5006). Again, we need to choose one out of these three. Problem arise again. So how?? This time what we do was, we arranged according to order from the one we wanted to try most to the one we wanted to try least out of the three food. So my arrangement is 5006, 2006 and 3003 while my sister arrangement is 3003, 2006 and 5006. Was totally opposite this time. Lol. So at the end, we ordered food code number 2006, our middle choice instead which is a chocolate roll.

So, this is the interior of Paddington House of Pancakes in The Curve. Is so colourful. Looks quite nice ya?

Chocolate Roll (RM15.00)
Rating: 3.5/5
And this was the one we ordered. Is a chocolate roll with peanut butter, ice cream, oreo crumbs, chocolate sauce, nuts, and whipped cream. First of all, I like the texture and secondly, the taste was not bad as well. Overall, it was quite nice. I am a chocolate, nuts, ice cream and oreo lover. That's the reason why I say the taste was quite nice because it have all the things I love in it. My sister said it tasted a bit like apam balik. Lol. Anyway, this kind of food cannot really eat a lot as you will ultimately get bored if you eat a lot. That's another reason why we only ordered one set to share.

So, here you go another close up shot of my pancake.

Standing Theory @ SS2

Standing Theory is one of the growing cafe in SS2. I cannot really say it is one of the latest cafe since it have been brewing for like almost 9 months already (launched on November 9, 2013). What I can really say is that it is one of the hidden gem since it have been hidden in one of the housing area in SS2. Despite of that, they are still able to attract a large crowd. Malaysian are really a food hunter. So long as they heard about something new or special, they will just explore it regardless of how far or how hidden it was especially for food wise. I am a typical Malaysian as well. Meaning?? I went and explore this place as well with my sister on last Sunday after hearing so much about this place. So, we went over here for breakfast on last Sunday (Oppsss...I should say brunch instead).

So, this is how Standing Theory looks like from the inner view. We went around 12 something to 1 something on Sunday and it was full with people.

These were the food and drink we ordered that day. And these had made us poorer by RM26.
The good thing is, there are aren't any tax or service charges.

B.B.C Waffle (RM16.00)
Rating: 3/5
The choices of food here are quite limited actually. They only offered 4 types of set lunch (from 11.00 am - 4.30 pm) and 5 types of set for dinner (from 6.30 pm - 9.30 pm). Since, we wanted to try out some waffles, so we ended up ordered their B.B.C waffle. In fact, this is the only waffle offered by them during lunch hour. B.B.C waffle is actually a combination of waffles with smoked bacon, banana, fat baby cornflake ice cream plus gula melaka syrup. I like the combination of their ice cream and their waffle itself but not everything mixed together.  If everything are mixed together, I think the taste is average only. Anyway, I saw there were quite a number of people ordered this. Indeed, I am interested on the other waffle in which they only offered during the dinner time. That one is actually a combination of waffles, coconut candy ice cream, crushed peanuts and gula melaka syrup. Sound interesting??

Hot Chocolate (RM10.00)
Rating 3.5/5
Standing Theory is actually quite famous for their coffee like flat white but since both of us cannot really drink coffee so we decided to order hot chocolate instead. Don't get me wrong. I actually love coffee. Just that I couldn't drink much as I will suffer breathing difficulty during the night time if I drink a lot. I think the chocolate is perfectly balanced as in it is well mixed lah. The taste is okay as well. So far, I have not try any chocolate which I think is the best yet. Any recommendation??

I always see this pose whenever people post their coffee picture on Instagram. So, I am trying to imitate that pose as well. So, here you go my imitation. I think it turns out to be quite good huh? Haha. (*self compliment). Anyway, this is chocolate, not coffee. Surprisingly, they have art on their chocolate as well. Most cafes only offer art on their coffee but not on their chocolate.

Isn't this is cool when you still can see the art/design even after finishing it??
